“My mission in life is to nourish people’s bodies and minds through tasty, simple and exhilarating food.”

Ciao, my name is Lucia Del Prete, I’m from Naples, Italy, I’m 34 years old and I have worked as a personal chef since 2008. I like 5 things in life: food, family, exercise, yoga, travel and music. I’m outgoing, friendly, open minded and curious. It is in my nature to travel the world and as well as Europe I have lived in Asia so my food is a gastronomic fusion of the flavours I have experienced.  The idea of working as a Personal Chef started while I was employed as flight attendant in Milan, between 2008 and 2011. My job was not fulfilling my expectations and real needs in life. I was tired, unmotivated and needed a revolution about myself and mostly a job which could give me the precious chance to express who I am whilst delivering a mission: nourish people’s bodies and minds through tasty, simple and exhilarating food. So I studied nutrition in Naples and Milan and then learnt to be a Chef in Florence. I went from throwing dinners to entertain friends, family and boyfriend to transform my love for good food and conviviality into the job of my dreams. My life experiences began to materialise in my food! So I quit my old job, bought a one way ticket and moved to Sydney. I started with one single client and several part time jobs to pay the bills. We are what we eat.

Today after 3 years of hard work, baking, experimenting, food stalls at organic markets, produce hunting and driving all over the place, In Food We Trust is a dream come true. I have worked for over 100 customers, catered for parties, weddings, run cooking workshops, cooked in yoga retreats, detoxified young women, but most of all achieved my aspiration to become a wholefood cook that chooses seasonal organic ingredients to deliver simple, tasty and nourishing recipes that anyone can be able to make. There is no better or worse chef; only thing that counts is feeling great about yourself and remember one simple statement: We are what we eat.

The power of our Food – by Lucia Del Prete

What does ‘we are what we eat’ even mean? For me, to harness the power of our food, we need to eat a variety of food that is always seasonal, organic, fresh and most importantly vibrant.
